Muskies Canada Bobcaygeon Blowout 2004, Pigeon Lake, ON Canada

Doug Strong with a 37" Musky
Muskies Canada member Doug Strong with his 47"er caught on Saturday Jun 6, 2004 on Pigeon Lake. It was a tough day for all the participants, perhaps the weather was too good. Sure we all could have done a lot better, however we came far from being skunked, at least Doug anyway.

Doug brought in a 37" Musky on a saltwater Rapala that he bought in Florida. The color was tourquois with grey lines and stripes on it.

He hit like a landslide off Hurricaine Point as we came across the lake; at times were in over 40' of water, but he hit just before the bottom came up sharply to approx. 9'. Obviously this Musky was simply hanging in deep water ambushing smaller fish as they came from the shallower water across the drop-off.

According to Doug I ended up losing a smaller tiger Musky in the 36"+ class due to: "as Doug put it" I tried to horse-it-in. I waited almost 2 days for this fish, but I don't think horse it in is a fair comment. Maybe my drag was a little too tight but lets not get crazy. Anyway, it was only a fish and a small one at that. I say let's keep any slip-ups with the minute sizes anyway, instead of messing up a record monster catch.
